Visiting is a privilege that is earned by the inmates for good behavior and compliance with the rules and regulations; it is not a right.

• Prior arrangements must be made through Social Services for special visits.
• The video visit shall be no less than fifteen (15) minutes.
• Your visit may be monitored and digitally recorded.
• Visitors must conform to the dress code approved by the Warden as posted in the Visiting Lobby.
• Bringing firearms, explosives, alcoholic beverages, narcotics, or any controlled substance, including marijuana, into the institution is a crime and cause for arrest.
• Visitors are not permitted to carry cell phones, cameras, tape recorders, bags, briefcases or any electronic devices and similar apparatus into the visiting area.
• No food, drinks, newspapers, magazines, and/or children’s toys shall be allowed.
• No tobacco products or lighting utensils shall be allowed in the institution.
• At the end of the visiting session or when a visit is terminated the visitor shall leave the visiting area neat, clean and free of debris.
• Violation of visiting rules, regulations and procedures by a visitor shall result in the visitor being removed from the institution and being denied visiting privileges.

1. All new intakes may not have video visiting privileges until after the first seven (7) days of incarceration.
2. After the first seven (7) days of incarceration, inmates may receive video visits, as long as they are not in disciplinary detention status.
3. A visitor list must be submitted first in order to be eligible for a video or contact visit.
4. Inmates may place a maximum of six (6) visitors on their approved visitor list. Children 13 years of age or under do not have to be placed on the visitor list.
5. It is the inmate’s responsibility to notify all visitors that they have been placed on the approved visitor list and may enter the facility to request a visit.
6. Inmates may not change their visitors on their approved visitor list, unless there are special circumstances, and the Warden or designee has approved such change. If an inmate is approved to place another visitor on his/her list, a visitor already on the list must be removed if it exceeds the maximum of six (6) visitors allowed.
7. Each inmate is entitled to two (2) video visits per week. The visiting week starts on Wednesday and ends on Sunday.
8. Inmates may only have two (2) adult visitors at a time during a visiting session.
9. Adult visitors may not bring more than one (1) child each. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

1. All persons entering an Adult County Correctional facility are subject to search.
2. Only visitors that are on an inmates approved visitor list may enter the visiting lobby and request a visit.
3. It is the inmate’s responsibility to notify all visitors that they have been placed on an approved visitors list.
4. Visitors are not permitted to visit with any party that has been court ordered no contact or on the inmates victim notification form.
5. A visitor may not be on more than one inmate’s list, unless the visitor is immediate family to more than one inmate.
6. Any visitor that has been incarcerated with the Middlesex County Department of Corrections within one (1) year of the requested visited will be denied.
7. All visitors must provide valid photo identification to the Visiting Staff when checking in. Acceptable forms of identifications are listed in the back of the handbook.
8. The parent or legal guardian of a minor child must maintain close supervision of the child before, during and after each visit. Children will never be left unattended for any reason.
9. Visitors who are disruptive or causing a disturbance shall be requested to leave the institution and shall be denied access to visiting for that day.
10. Limitation on the length or frequency of visits shall be imposed only to avoid overcrowding in the visiting area.
11. Violation of visiting rules, regulations and procedures by a visitor shall result in the visitor being removed from the institution and being denied visiting privileges.

• The minimum length of a video visit is fifteen (15) minutes.
• All visitors are required to be checked in fifteen (15) minutes prior to the end of their session time.
• Once the video session has been started and the receiver is hung up, the session will not be restarted for any reason.
• Visits may be terminated due to the facility needs.
• Your visit may be monitored and digitally recorded.
• Visitors arrive at the visiting lobby on a first come first serve basis according to the posted visiting schedule for the inmate they wish to visit.
• The Visiting Staff will direct the visitor as to what number monitor to report to.
• Once a connection is made between the inmate and their visitor(s), the monitor will automatically shut off after twenty (20) minutes.
• Once the visit is over, the visitor(s) must exit the facility immediately.
• Any inmate or visitor, that is improperly dressed, damages facility video visiting equipment, is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or displays improper conduct, will have their visiting privileges revoked pending review by the Warden.

With the growing concerns, uncertainty of and community effect surrounding COVID-19, the Middlesex County Department of Corrections has made the difficult decision to suspend all In-Person visitation until further notice.

Clothing Guidelines for Visitors of Adult Corrections Facilities

All visitors allowed to visit this facility must be dressed appropriately. The following type of clothing will not be considered appropriate attire for visiting:

1. See through attire
2. Tank tops
3. Halter tops
4. Bare feet
5. Bra-less attire
6. Mini skirts or dresses where the slit extends above the knee
7. Revealing, low cut necklines
8. Backless tops or dresses
9. Tube tops
10. Spaghetti strap tie tops
11. Any clothing that reveals bare shoulders, bare midriff or any part of the breast,
12. Spandex or other stretch clothing
13. Hats or other headwear (exception shall be a bonafide religious tenet)

The above mentioned list includes clothing that is not acceptable, however, this list is not meant to be all inclusive.

The facility reserves the right to deny any visitor when it is determined a visitor’s dress is not appropriate, even though they may not be wearing one of the previously listed items of apparel.

Be advised that in accordance with Executive Orders and promulgated County Policies, face coverings are always required when entering the facility and while not seated in your viewing station.

Personal Visits
Effective Immediately (Rev 07/06/2020)

While easing into what is to be the “new normal” and recognizing that interaction with family and friends is core to the re-entry mission of the Middlesex County Department of Corrections, the video visitation program is resuming.
As of the above date, all inmates are entitled to two (2) video visits per week based on the below schedule with no last name restriction:

• Wednesday: 12:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. / 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
• Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. / 12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
• Friday: 12:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. / 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. / 12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
• Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m./  12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Professional Visiting

Consistent with the Supreme Court’s 11/18/2021 Order, more and more court matters are being conducted in person. Not only have jury trials resumed, but Judges can schedule an in-person proceeding based on the facts and circumstances in any case.  In order to assure that those under our care and custody are properly prepared for the Court’s changes, the following professional visiting hours are being implemented:

  • 7:00am – 5:00pm
  • No appointment necessary
• Video visitations:
  • Available based on the above personal visiting schedule
  • No appointment necessary
