Welcome to Plays-in-the-Park, a unique, government-sponsored outdoor amphitheater presenting three full-scale musicals each summer, an indoor children’s musical each October, and a December tradition of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the State Theatre in New Brunswick.

Plays-in-the-Park is conveniently located one block south of the Menlo Park Mall off of Route 1, in Edison, N.J. The turn off is called Grandview Avenue. At the top of the short hill, make your first right on to Pine Drive and the Park Rangers will guide you to a parking spot.

Stiles & Drewe’s The 3 Little Pigs

October 4, 5, 11, 12, and 18

Shows will be at 1:00PM and 4:00PM.

In this new spin on a classic tale, the three little pigs— Cha, Siu and Bao— are global superstars. Their mother sends them out into the world to create their dream homes. But just as the pigs finally build their perfect homes, the Big Bad Wolf steps in and tries to destroy their hard work! When he realizes that he can’t destroy the house made of bricks, the Wolf hatches a plan to kidnap the three little pigs’ mother! With plenty of fun songs and adorable antics, this very curly musical will be sure to please young audiences!

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

December 27 and 28

Shows will start at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat reimagines the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors. Told entirely through song, the musical follows preferred son Joseph from being sold into slavery by his brothers, to ingratiating himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar, ending up in jail where he discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and finally in front of the Elvis-inspired Pharaoh, where his solution to Egypt’s famine elevates him to Pharaoh’s right-hand man and reunites him with his family. Joseph is full of catchy songs in a variety of styles, from a parody of French ballads (“Those Canaan Days”), to country-western (“One More Angel in Heaven”) and calypso (“Benjamin Calypso”), along with the unforgettable classics “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door.” A musical for all ages.

Official Rainouts

The following dates were official rainouts. If you have a ticket stub from any performances listed below, you may use them by exchanging the stub at the box office for a new ticket. Rain checks/canceled shows are valid up to one year from the date of issue and can be used for any of our summer performances.

The rain check line will open three minutes after the box office line opens. Only one chair is allowed for each rain check stub.
