Joseph M. Kadian, Psy.D., NCC, serves as the Executive Director of the George J. Otlowski, Sr. Center for Mental Health Care. With over 40 years of diversified clinical and supervisory experience in both hospital and non-hospital-based behavioral health care settings, Dr. Kadian manages all of the Center’s professional and administrative staff, clinical programs, and community initiatives. Before coming to the Center, Dr. Kadian served as President and CEO of the Bayonne Community Mental Health Center for close to 25 years.  He  received his M.A. in Clinical Psychology at the New School for Social Research, and he completed his internship at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital while pursuing his doctoral candidacy at New York University. He received his Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology at St. Elizabeth’s University. He is a former Board member of the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addictions Agencies (NJAMHAA), and he has served on numerous community advisory boards, councils, and committees advocating for essential mental health services.  He is a National Certified Counselor with the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) since 1983. In addition, he has been an Adjunct Instructor in Psychology at New Jersey City University for over thirty years. Dr. Kadian is recognized as a leader in developing innovative programming, particularly in areas designed to reduce stigma. Dr. Kadian emphasizes the importance of providing efficient access, availability, and quality in all the Center’s programs, as well as the value and impact of the therapeutic relationship in achieving positive outcomes in treatment.
