MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – The Middlesex County Division of Environmental Health is actively working with state and local partners to monitor the current poor air quality and smoke in the area resulting from the wildfires in Canada.

Wildfire smoke can make anyone sick, but some residents are at higher risk. People most at risk include:

• People with chronic conditions, including asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), diabetes, chronic kidney disease, or heart disease.
• Pregnant women
• Children
• First Responders

To prevent wildfire smoke from impacting you and your loved ones during this time, limit outdoor activities and plan to stay indoors.

Residents can check their local air quality any time at airnow.gov.
