Post Date:01/21/2026

Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera and Chief Thomas J. Montagna of the Old Bridge Police Department announced today that Daniel Berwick, 39, of Old Bridge, has been arrested as a result of a child pornography investigation conducted by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

After receiving a cyber tip from the New Jersey State Police, an investigation was conducted by Detective Ken McGarry of the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit at the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. It is alleged that Berwick was posing as a 17-year-old boy on Snapchat by using another person’s pictures and videos. As a result of that investigation Berwick was charged.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies arrested Berwick on January 21, 2026, without incident at his home in Old Bridge. Subsequent to the execution of a search warrant for his residence, Berwick was charged with first-degree Production of Child Sexual Abuse Material, second-degree Manufacturing of Child Sexual Abuse Material, second-degree Aggravated Sexual Extortion, second-degree Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material, third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, third-degree Using Deceptive Audio/Video Files to Further a Crime, and third-degree Distributing Obscene Material to a Child. Berwick is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility pending the results of a Pre-Trial Detention hearing.

Prosecutor Estremera extends her thanks to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, as well as the Old Bridge Police Department, Dallas Texas Police Department and FBI Newark Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force for their professional courtesy for assisting with this investigation and arrest.

The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective McGarry of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3140.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Berwick are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
