Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Arthur Flaherty Sr. of the Metuchen Police Department announced today that a New Brunswick man has been arrested and charged in connection with a stabbing that occurred on December 3, 2025.
On December 3, 2025, at approximately 7:34 P.M., Metuchen Police Department received a 911 call reporting an altercation that involved a knife at a residence on Durham Avenue in Metuchen. Upon their arrival, authorities located a 23-year-old male from Long Branch with stab wounds. The 23-yearold male was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
An investigation led by Detective Robert Ring of the Metuchen Police Department and Detective Stephanie Redline of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office determined that Peter Fragoso, 29, of New Brunswick was the perpetrator and that this was not a random act of violence.
On December 4, 2025, Fragoso was charged with first-degree Attempted Murder, fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and fourth-degree Obstruction.
Fragoso is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the results of a Pre-Trial Detention hearing scheduled for Friday, December 12, 2025.
