Homicide Under Investigation

Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Vincent Sabo of the New Brunswick Police Department announced today that a New Brunswick resident and 17- year-old male from North Brunswick have been charged in connection with the homicide that occurred in the City of New Brunswick on October 8, 2025.

On October 8, 2025, at approximately 11:32 P.M., authorities responded to Pine Street Park following a report of an unconscious male. Upon their arrival, officers located the male victim, Fernando Buezo Diaz, 18, of New Brunswick, who sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Initial investigation led by Detective Victor Delgado of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Stephanie Redline of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that a fight ensued and during the altercation Buezo Diaz was shot. Ultimately, it was learned that Jalen Terrell-Ingram, 20, of New Brunswick, was in possession of a gun on the night of the incident.

On October 10, 2025, charges were approved against Terrell-Ingram for first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and second-degree Unlawful Possession of Weapon. Terrell-Ingram turned himself into New Brunswick Police Department on October 13, 2025. On October 15, 2025, the 17-year-old juvenile male has been taken into custody and charged with acts of juvenile delinquency for offenses which if committed by an adult would constitute Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of Weapon.

As with all criminal defendants, the charges against Terrell-Ingram and the juvenile are just allegations, and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty
