Fatal Crash Under Investigation

Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Eamon Blanchard of the Plainsboro Police Department announced today that a fatal crash is under investigation in the township of Plainsboro.

On August 8, 2025, at approximately 1:04 A.M., Plainsboro Police Department responded to a crash near the intersection of Route 1 South and College Road. Upon their arrival, authorities found an Acura TSX, a dump truck and a Hyundai Genesis that were involved in the crash.

An initial investigation led by Officer Richard Wolak of Plainsboro Township Police Department and Detective James Barnes of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the Acura TSX crashed into the back of the dump truck causing it to be propelled into the left lane. As a result, the dump truck was struck by the Hyundai Genesis. The driver of the Acura TSX, Johnathan Martinez, 20, of Somerset, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger of the Acura TSX sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Capital Health Medical Center in Trenton, where he remains in critical condition. The drivers of the Hyundai Genesis and dump truck are in stable condition and sustained minor injuries.
