The Tamarack Hollow Preserve was saved through the cooperative efforts of the Middlesex County Board of Commissioners and the Township of East Brunswick in August of 2007. The 232-acre tract had been approved for 57 single family homes and a sewerage treatment facility that could have discharged up to 16,800 gallons of treated wastewater per day into local streams.
Instead of this development, the land remains as a patchwork of heavily wooded forest mixed with farmland that continues to support local agriculture. The gentle rolling terrain and variety of plants and animals make the Tamarack Hollow Preserve a top choice for passive activities such as hiking, walking, bird watching and photography. With two miles of hiking trails, Tamarack Hollow is a great family destination during both summer and winter.
Additionally, the proximity of the Tamarack Hollow Preserve to existing parkland at the Ireland Brook Conservation Area and Davidson Mill Pond Park form a green-belt in East and South Brunswick of over 1500-acres.
Acreage: 165 Acres
