Middlesex County’s Roosevelt Park in Edison will once again host the walk, which lasts from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. Registration is free, but required. Contact your local Senior Center to register before the deadline, which is Sept. 10.
“The Walk is an event our senior residents have enjoyed for many years,” said Freeholder Blanquita B. Valenti, chairwoman of the County’s Community Services Committee. “I encourage all eligible residents to register now and take advantage of the health screenings and wellness information, and a chance to walk in beautiful Roosevelt Park.”
Free health screenings and wellness information will be available at the event. Boxed lunches and entertainment will follow the walk. There will also be raffles and special T-shirts for walkers.
Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios added: “The Board of Chosen Freeholders is determined to make Middlesex County a place where all residents can enjoy being active and staying healthy. The Senior Health and Fitness Walk is a fine example of how exercise can be communal and recreational, as well as good for one’s health.”
Registration and other amenities are free of charge. Information on health and wellness, as well as the free screenings, are intended to give all participants a better idea of how to improve their habits and maintain their current healthy lifestyle.
