Plays-in- the-Park is pleased to present the Tony Award winning musical Monty Python’s SPAMALOT as the second production of its 2013 Season.  Performances will run from July 17th through July 27th, with no show on Sunday, July 21st. All shows begin at 8:30 p.m. and are staged at the Stephen J. Capestro Amphitheater at 1 Pine Drive in Roosevelt Park, Edison, NJ.

The musical comedy SPAMALOT is “lovingly ripped off from” the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and follows the misadventures of the legendary King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Taking place in Medieval England, King Arthur trumps around on his quest for the Holy Grail, meeting killer rabbits, feisty Frenchmen, and some beautiful women along the way.
The Original Broadway production of SPAMALOT opened in March 2005 at the Shubert Theatre, and was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning the 2005 Tony Award for “Best Musical.”  Spamalot also won a Grammy Award in 2006 for “Best Musical Show Album.”
“I encourage theater lovers of all ages to come out for what will prove to be a spectacular production,” said Middlesex County Freeholder Stephen J. “Pete” Dalina.  “Our Plays-in-the-Park program is one of our greatest recreational offerings, and we are so pleased that thousands of our residents agree.”
“Bring your family and friends to our beautiful park and enjoy this fantastic production,” said Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios.  “This is truly family entertainment at its best!”

Featured in this production is Dan Cook playing King Arthur, Jeff Babey as Patsy, Patrick Andrae as Sir Galahad, Billy Gelzeiler as Sir Lancelot, David Seamon as Sir Robin, Frank Andrews as Sir Bedevere, Ali Gleason as Lady of the Lake, and Christopher Abbott as the Historian. The full cast of 20 comes from all parts of New Jersey.
