The Division of Spatial Data Services provides a comprehensive suite of GIS services, demographic projections, and data research (including OPRA requests) to all Middlesex County Departments, Offices, residents and the public at large.
Staff handles requests from the public and private sectors for data, maps, and related information. Staff of this division serve as the clearinghouse for a majority of office information requests. The Middlesex County Office of Planning under a memo of agreement with the NJ Department of Labor serves as the designated Affiliate of the State Data Center for Middlesex County. As such, staff provides information as a designated contact for Census and other County Offices, municipalities and public libraries. Staff handles public requests for maps and aerial photography and provides support services to the other divisions and other County departments and offices in preparation of graphics and maps.
Also, unique, in-house Demographic Data is developed and provided by the Division of Spatial Data Services which includes:

Annually updated municipal population projections
through 2045
- A build-out analysis for each county municipality
and watershed that estimates ultimate population and employment given current
zoning densities
- A topology of county block groups
- Continually updated
County Zoning Redevelopment and Overlay GIS layers
