The Office of Cultural and Heritage volunteers are
neighbors, college students, retired persons, business people, artists, and
individuals just like you. Your skills and interests will be matched with the
needs of the Office. Organized groups can also volunteer. All individuals
are encouraged to apply as all our sites and programs are completely
WHAT WILL YOU DO
You will assist with educational programs conducted by historians, artists,
educators and staff. Some volunteers conduct tours, others assist with public
programs, workshops and events. You may volunteer behind the scenes; with
mailings, telephone queries, or setting up displays. Volunteer opportunities are
available at the Cornelius Low House Museum, East Jersey Olde
Towne Village, Very Special Arts, or general community projects.
We need people who are outgoing and cheerful, who are
interested in art, history and cultural traditions, enjoy interacting with the
public, from young people to senior citizens. Schedules are flexible, with
days, evenings and weekends available.
STEPS TO BECOMING A VOLUNTEER
You can request an application by e-mail, telephone or dropping by the
Commission site. Return the completed application. You will be contacted to
arrange a time for you to come in to discuss your areas of interest. All volunteers will be given the necessary training and
orientation prior to beginning their duties.
Volunteers are very important to our programs and services, and play a critical
role at the Middlesex County Office of Cultural and Heritage. As a volunteer
you will receive many benefits, such as meeting new people, using your skills
and talents to improve your community, develop new skills and be recognized by
your peers. Based on time logged, volunteers are acknowledged for their service
to the County through a recognition program and gifts such as: a certificate,
volunteer pin, plaque or volunteer sweater.
