The County Administrator is an appointed official who reports directly to the Board of Chosen Freeholders on policy matters (i.e., all matters affecting the citizens of Middlesex County). The County Administrator also acts as its chief executive and administrative officer on all matters involving County Government and has administrative responsibilities for County matters.
The County Administrator serves on or chairs various commissions and committees such as the Open Space & Recreation Public Advisory Committee, Joint Insurance Fund Commission, and the Joint Health Insurance Fund.
The County Administrator oversees the preparation of the County's annual operating and capital budgets. The County Administrator may perform other executive and administrative duties as are necessary to ensure the effective functioning of County operations and the efficient use of County resources. The County Administrator shall also perform such other duties as are assigned by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
