Park Advisory - All park events and picnics are currently suspended until April 30, 2020. Parks and open space will remain open to the public for passive recreation, including roads, parking areas, trails, lakes and other open space areas. However, restrooms, comfort stations, playgrounds, dog parks, basketball and tennis courts, the flying field, and similar facilities are closed until further notice in order to protect public health and safety. We ask that the public practice social distancing and refrain from large groups while enjoying our parks and open spaces.
Sitting on the Raritan River in the Borough of Highland Park, you will find our 81 acre Donaldson Park. Opened in 1946, it is widely known for its boat ramp and dog park. In 1953, Highland Park held its first Town Outing at the Park. In 2009, the park was totally renovated to accommodate the thousands of park visitors that come and enjoy the park each week. It has a large variety of active and passive recreational facilities including sports fields, playgrounds, and paved trails.
